Boring life

Its been a while since I blogged as I never really have anything to say.. now I know if you asked anyone who knows me about that they would probably be in danger of giving themselves a hernia laughing!! me?? nothing to say??? Hmmmmmm

Anyway, I've had nothing interesting to say. All my time has been taken up recently making backgrounds and props for the school play. AAAAAAAAArrgghhh wash my mouth out...... I profusely apologise to the Y5 teachers *rolls eyes* It wasnt a 'play' it was a 'production'! Actually it was rather good and will be difficult to top it next year lol
It was a production of Panto Pandemonium and I will have all the songs going around in my head until at least June I think lol

We're the 7 dwarves
We're looking for Snow White.........
Thought the witch has got her
We'll rescue her tonight ........

see lol

Anyway my props and backgrounds went down very well and they did TRY to get me to stand and take a bow after the evening performance but it was rather unfortunate that I dropped something just at that point and happened to be crouched near the floor and couldn't be seen!

There was almost one catastrophy when a rather over bearing Mum came in for extra tickets even though everyone had had letters the previous week explaining there were only 2 tickets per family due to lack of space in the hall! With two hours to go she threw her dummy out of the pram and said if she couldnt have extra tickets then her darling little *** would NOT be appearing as a dwarf AND she was taking her outfit home as well so we couldnt use it lol
WELL.......... at this point all the other kids had left for the evening with strict instructions to be back for 6pm and not a minute later. The only child left in school was yours trulys youngest son who just so happened to not have a part as he was sound effects man , so we were dispatched home with a script to learn lines and an hour and a half to find a dwarves outfit lol.
It all went very well and my son was word perfect ;o) and looked rather fetching with Grandads braces on!!

OH well so much for having nothing to say eh ??? ;o)

Relax........

Dont do it lol
You know the way we are always wanting a day to do nothing?? Well I got one.... almost nothing anyway!! All I had to do today was cook the roast, everything else was done yesterday. Was I pleased with this?? Was I heck!! Never satisfied me you know, I just didnt know what to do with myself! After swearing not long ago never to shop on a Saturday I even decided to shop on a Sunday! Wasnt so bad though as Sainsburys was quite empty and also eldest son after deciding to come with me saw a group of mates pumping tyres up at the petrol station and decided that in actual fact he should have gone to the skate park *rolls eyes* I have never seen him so helpful, running up aisles to fetch what I needed. Anyway, everything got in about 15 minutes and paid for, I found myself back home and time to sit on the sofa twiddling my thumbs.

I'm [almost] sure I will never again complain about having no time to sit and do nothing .......

BECAUSE IT'S BORING !!!!

frogs

Well my weekend made a rather different start this week, instead of the usual joyous day of ironing and washing, I had a pond to 'defrog'!! Yep you heard me right ............. defrogging lol

It's that time of year again when we have what looks like a bubbling pond!! All the little amorous froggies swimming about and doing what amorous froggies do!! We needed to get them out before we have the frogspawn to contend with ...... last year we had to take it up to the ponds on the golfcourse as we didnt want so many frogs in with the koi!! believe me a bucket full of frogspawn blubbing about isnt the easiest thing to drive up a narrow lane with ;o)

Anyway when the little froggies are 'doing it' they grab hold of the koi sometimes and hold them down and they die :o( so we decided it would be kinder to defrog the pond and let them run [jump? leap?] free elsewhere. Frogs arent the easier creatures to catch hold of in a 5 foot deep koi pond lol. Once I had a few in my bucket, I made sure there were no mourners in the cemetery and gave them a little extra freedom ;o) oh the frogs that is - not the mourners!!!

Anyway we now have a net covering the pond and I'll just keep an eye out and 'set free' any extra frogs I spy in there!

green btw in honour of froggies everywhere!!

parents evening

My son appears to have turned a new leaf and according to the majority of his teachers is a well mannered, mature, sensible student!! Yeah ...... I was gob smacked too lol.

He is doing well in everything apart from French [which he hates] he settles down quickly and gets on with his work, I never thought I would ever hear all this!

That totally deserved the pair of DC's I'd promised for an amazing report [not ever thinking he would do so well ;o) ]

very very proud Mummy moment went on today :oD

school trip

I went to Kelham Island industrial museum today with the Y5's to learn about the great flood of Sheffield 1864. Suprisingly it was a fab day :oD the kids were brilliantly behaved and the people doing the tour and talk were excellent. I didnt dress in victorian costume as my wardrobe is suprisingly short on long skirts and frilly blouses lol, but the kids all looked very victorian, apart from a couple that were slightly more WWII in my opinion!! Luckily the parents helping with the class I was with were very friendly and we had a laugh, but the ones with the other Y5 class had all brought along victorian faces I'm thinking, as not one cracked a smile all day, as far as I saw!!

dental appointments

I have been trying to have a dentist appointment since about last August when a locum [what the heck does that mean?] told me at a regular check up that I needed a filling replacing [it's been there years, why mess?] and that my jaw is out of alignment and I need a bite guard to hold it in place whilst im sleeping!!! I know my jaw clicks out a lot but to go to bed looking like a pro boxer???

Anyway..... first appointment had to be cancelled as I .... actually I havent a clue why I cancelled that one ... that appointment was remade for the 23rd December, why?? Did I not think I would be too busy so close to Christmas?? well I was lol so another appointment was made for .... TODAY! except I never thought to write it down anywhere. I just remembered it was the beginning of March! So I rang first thing this morning to check when the appointment was this week. The receptionist was very pleased to hear from me when I rang as she was about to phone me anyway. She needed to cancel my appointment and reschedule as .... wait for this ...

the chair was dangerous!

What the blinkin heck that meant I havent a clue, anyway she was very apologetic and said they just couldnt risk anyone going near it?? I know its electric but had it gone mad??

well to stop you getting too bored by all this blathering on, my next appointment is now on the 31st March,

well so long as they have controlled the chair by then!

my purse and my faith in human nature

I forgot to say about my purse in the last blog!

Because we were in such a rush I dashed into iceland whilst my sis went back to the car with the bags and the pram. When I got there my bag felt really light and I realised my purse wasnt in there! I ran back to the shop to see if I had left it by the till or dropped it but no no one had seen it :o( the lady there suggested I asked at customer services [ we were in an indoor shopping centre BTW] It seemed pointless as I was sure that someone had grabbed it as the place was so busy and I wouldnt have noticed! But... I asked if by any chance anyone had handed in a small pink purse and the lady asked my name..... then handed me my purse!! I was astounded, my faith in human nature restored :oD there are still nice, honest, genuine people out there.

In future I will be making sure that I am more careful as well when putting my purse away whilst carrying loads of bags!

TIME.

Why do I never have enough of it?? Time that is... I'm never too sure if it's the fact that I try to fit too much into each day or that I simply have terrible time management. When I do find the time to catch up on the washing and ironing I'm too knackered and end up on here ;o)

Today I grabbed a cup of tea whilst prising eldest son from the pit that he calls a bed, Fed the cat, dog, rabbit and youngest son. Then dropped youngest son off at school at 8.30am, he has to be there early to give out all the registers. I drove down to pick my sister up at school after she dropped off my niece and to drive her over to argos to pick up a new laundry basket
[ I also bought the cutest light set that is a track with cars on it for my nephews bedroom],
we called into Boots to stock up on nappies, wipes etc [ I say we....] and then into wilkinsons and iceland. I apparently spent too much time 'browsing' in wilkinsons and was reminded that my sister has to get to work at 11.45!
I also had a drama here about my purse but I'll explain that afterwards!
Dropped my sister back at home and drove to collect Mum from school where she was picking up my niece as it was quite windy and its a good walk back!
Then drove my sister back to the same school for work!
I called in to see my hubby at the house 'we' are doing up and he asked me to 'nip' to wickes and fetch a box of tiles and tile adhesive..... sigh! couldnt really say no could I?
Battled through traffic to town and back and then called into school as I'd promised to help out this afternoon [last time this week I think that I'm doing extra time lol and you can quote me on that]
Got a phone call as school ended from darling son.... no he wasnt wondering where I was or missing me, he needed cash as he was on his way to the skate park..... oh it's lovely to be needed ;o)
cooked tea for youngest [eldest still out at this point] nipped around to my neighbours so she could put me a hair dye on and managed to get that done and a shower all before eldest was back and STARVING!!
I have now dried my hair and managed to sit and have a sandwich and a cup of tea too.

Soooooooo ........ normally my day isnt quite that bad as I'm in work all morning and fit everything else in to the afternoon! ........... is it very bad time management and I'm a lazy bint or am I genuinely a busy mum lol

mothers day

It appears that in this house the concept of Mothering Sunday was completely misunderstood

Saturday, 1 March 2008

Mothering Sunday

I forgot to add this earlier about Asda!
In the doorway were buckets and buckets of bouquets of flowers, helium balloons in huge bunches, teddy bears, fabric stuffed [??] flowers and 'Roger' the greeter was encouraging every single person through the doorway to make a purchase for 'Mothering Sunday'. What makes people dash out on the Saturday to pay as much as £19.99 for what I thought looked a very tatty bunch of flowers??
There were Dads in droves tagging along numerous kids and encouraging them to grab some flowers and a teddy or 'fabric stuffed flower' [which incidentally played a tune ... woohoooo] As I was waiting at the customer services [thats another tale altogether] I was amazed at the amount of flowers bought.
I'm a miserable old bugger as you know and I hate the commercialism of it all! I bought the customary card for both Mums and as I always do I got my Mum daffodils and Mum in law some primula [not the cheese!!] for the garden :o)
We will wait and see what tomorrow brings for me..... I usually just get a card and I ask for no arguments during the day and I also mentioned today that tidy bedrooms without me nagging would be a lovely present lol

AAAaarrrggghhh....

WHY?? Why did I do it?? Why did I go to Asda on a Saturday?? *takes deep breaths*

Are you really telling me ALL those people really only have Saturday to do a huge shop? now I remember why I have never tried to shop on a weekend for a long, long time! I can tell you as well, it will be a long, long, LONG time before I'm daft enough to do that again ...

Usually I happily [well quite cheerfully] push my trolley around Asda on a Thursday morning but the fact that I was working all day most of this week meant it would have to either be the weekend or late one evening. Stupidly I thought to myself [whilst sat on my fat backside waiting for coro to start and slurping on a hot cuppa tea...] that no.. It wouldnt be a good idea to drive over at night, It's dark out at that time you know and also I might be too tired to remember all I needed to buy ............. NOOOoooo!!......... take the risk of the scary, dark driving and forgetting something important!!!

I set off early to make sure sure I got there before most people were out .. HA, how wrong I was!!! What do these people do?? drag their kids out of bed at the crack of dawn? , 'wooohoo kids c'mon lets have a day out shopping, we can wander round annoyingly slowly whilst you 7 [yes I'm sure most people had 7 kids!!] can run about getting in the way AND if its really busy you can all make a slide in the fruit juice aisle and trip people up! *sigh*

Am I just becoming one of those grumbling old ladies?? Lol [comments not required thanks very much]

Anyway 2 1/2 hours later I was home. Probably having forgotten something I will realise I need once in the middle of cooking the sunday roast tomorrow........Oh yes!! wheres the joint??

Thats the last weekend supermarket trip for me ....... well, until it's been long enough that I've completely forgotten [it's my advancing years you know!!] about this one anway, then one night whilst sat with a cuppa waiting for coro I will think 'it's too dark to drive out to the supermarket now and I might forget something as I'm tired so I'll go at the weekend'..................

NNooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!

TFIF!!!!

Well its cold, grey, miserable and wet but at least its Friday.... Well thats what I thought until I arrived at school today!! The main topic of conversation before the [most enthralling] 'morning meeting' was the fact that it had said on the news today that we were working for free....... for free!!????? WTF, it took a few minutes for the fog to clear [I'd only had the one cup of tea and it takes on average two!] to realise what they were talking about. Friday 29th February 2008.... a leap year! We have an extra day to work yet our wages are exactly the same *sob* mind you .... an extra days pay isn't exactly going to make me rich with the wages I get ;o)

I wonder how many laydeeeees out there today have proposed?? I wonder if I can still propose whilst I'm married?? It may be cause for a few awkward conversations later so i think I'll give it a miss this leap year and leave it to all the single girlies out there. Would be interesting though wouldnt it?
Barry at work did say that, if he wasn't already married and if I wasn't already married and if he wasn't the same age as my Dad I could have proposed to him :oD sweet thought... but then I'm an old fashioned girl so I'll wait for the fella with the great, big, sparkly ring to ask me should I ever find myself in the position to be considering it ;o)

Good luck to anyone planning to take the plunge today though .....................

I left the building...

I actually went out .... at night too!! It wasn't just a trip to the supermarket .... or to take something to my sisters.... or run my Mum somewhere... OR take the kids some place!! I actually went out!
I met some 'colleagues' from work and we went to a lovely local eatery :o)
The person I work closest with and have a great laugh with at work was sadly ill, but there were still 7 others going. What I hadn't figured on was being about 15-20 years younger than 6 of them lol and the person nearest to my age was sat right at the opposite end of the table!!
well... what do women of later years talk about on a night out?? ..... let me tell you ..... THE BLOODY MENAPAUSE *slaps forehead in despair* Sweats - night sweats - paranioa - panic attacks - spotty skin - dry skin - itchy skin - dry *ahem* areas ......... *mouths down below silently* These are just a few of the many fun symptoms I have yet to experience and it was pointed out on one or ten occasions that it will be here quicker than I know !!!

Jesus I came away deciding I may as well just shoot myself now :o(

Anyway, it was lovely to have a night out, the food was gorgeous ;o)

my job

.....I appear to have had an enthusiasm bypass!

The weather again

How interesting I am and how very English to discuss the weather so often.

Today seems to be back to wet, muddy footprint weather, anyone with a dog will understand the hassle of letting him out into the garden and having to keep his muddy feet off the cream carpets afterwards [ yes i know.... what made me choose that colour with kids and animals? ..... I have wondered that many times myself]
During the cold, frosty days its lovely when everything is completely frozen over [and how much easier it is to clean up after him also !!!!!!!! ] He wanders back into the kitchen with not a mark on my floor! BUT on days like this ...... AAAAaaarrgggghhhhh ......... let me tell you, wiping a rottweilers feet on a small kitchen mat is not the easiest job and he just wont accept how much easier it would be if he helped a little and made the wiping movement himself.

The cat.... Hmmmmm now hes another story altogether, before i acquired him no-one [yes im meaning you! cat lady] explained to me just how those small footprints would appear EVERYWHERE! How on earth do cats get to these places and how the heck do they bloody balance there??

highjacked

Totally highjacked!!!! my laptop that is!
Every tuesday when I finish work at lunchtime I go to fetch my sister and niece and nephew for the afternoon and they stay for tea as my sisters partner works late and she hates being alone *roll eyes in despair*
Anyway, the second we have unpacked the whole of the car boot - did I ever carry so much stuff with me for a visit when my kids were that small?? - My niece has cbeebies on the tv and my sister has herself installed on the sofa with MY laptop on her knee , Its quite amazing the things I've bought on ebay in recent months lol

My house looks as if a small hurricane has gone through it, I'm still wiping finger prints from every window and the dining room carpet ..... well we wont even go there Lol

the weather

Today there are 2 totally separate sides to my garden. One half is completely white and frozen over...looks like a fine covering of snow and the other side is in full sunshine and all bright and green looking! Even the pond has half of it covered in ice and the fish are all sunning themselves in the warm side lol.

The problem I have is that when its nice weather I feel more like getting up and being productive, when its cold I feel like staying put in front of the fire ....... the way I'm feeling today can all change just by looking at one side of the garden then the other lol

I think I will sit on the sofa that over looks the sunny side.....

for now ;o)

I have a problem

and its a large problem sadly..... I am addicted to being online *blushes*
My Mum came over today and decided that she might stay over tonight, my first thought was not 'oh how nice to see her' it was utter panic that I wouldnt be able to be online tonight... how sad is that?? What is it about being online? have I really no life, that I have to have my fix of chatting and online games?

I better get myself a hobby I think lol

Anyway, she spoke to my Auntie this afternoon who invited her to go and stay at hers tonight and she didnt like to say no..... was I going to be upset she worried, as she had said she would stay here?? ..... oh no! don't you worry about us, you go and have a lovely chat and even better I'll drive you over there..... how kind am I? ;o)

update

Not Bothering WAS the better option it seems ............................ *sigh*

Revelation....

We have just realised that both our kids were conceived somewhere around valentines day lol

I think DH will be sitting far, far, FAR away from me this evening! I'm not sure why we never noticed this before now.....

HHmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..

Valetines day....

OK.... so i was up early, eagerly awaiting the postman.... should i have bothered?? that will be a big fat NO!
I handed hubby his usual cup of coffee to persuade him out of bed along with his valentines card, he just looked at me said 'thanks' and 'i didnt think we were bothering'. AHEM...... some of us were bothering *rolls eyes*
Lets wait and see when he returns whether he dashed out to buy something or just decided not bothering was the better option LOL

What made it worse today was every where you looked were lovey dovey couples, Asda was full of shelves of teddies, cards, roses...you name it, it came in pink or red today. At the checkout in front of me was a couple in their late teens heaving the biggest [tackiest] teddy holding a heart, they kept looking at each other and giggling bless them lol.

So this is it........ all i can ever think of to blog about, its not going to be the most interesting blog in the world is it??

[answers not actually required....it was a rhetorical question]

oh and look ....... i posted in red in honour of the date! :o)

miracles

Im posting this as i have just had a chat with a online friend about the fact that i am one of those sad women that believes all she reads about miracle anti-aging creams!!
On getting ready for bed i have just applied a glycogen peel, cleansed this off [anti aging wipes] applied a night cream [anti aging] and eye cream [again anti aging] and has a miracle occured??? has it ****!! years and years i have been applying this stuff in one form or another and .... I'M AGING!! The actual reason for mentioning all this is, afore mentioned friend has never bought any miracle creams anti aging or otherwise and although being the same age as myself looks younger and .... I would imagine is a good few £'s richer than me as well lol

Hmmmmmm lessons to be learnt there me thinks............

realisation

I have realised that i do in actual fact have things amusing to write about.......... the problem is that writing about 'interesting' people they may by some one in a billionth chance stumble upon this blog [people do search for odd things you know... in fact i have a story about just that] and realise that said person is in fact themselves and hence a court battle will commence!! stranger things have happened

Anyway story of searching things in google........... A colleague at work decided that it would be a great idea for her and her hubby to have a cruise later in the year during the summer break. Not having young children anymore they dont fancy spending a few weeks with other peoples little darlings. Soooooo, what would be a good way to search for such a cruise in google? ..... let me tell you now - ADULT ONLY CRUISES - isnt a good search phrase LMAO apparently it unearthed many sites my friend never knew could possibly exist lol. Now where did she hide the gimp mask...............

Hmmmmmmmmm

This has been started as someone has assured me its good for the soul to write.......lol!

My main problem being though, I actually have nothing at all to write about. Maybe as I go on I may suddenly suprise myself by discovering, that in actual fact, i do have an interesting life after all........ I'm not holding my breath on that microscopic chance though!

The one positive aspect of this is, as i sit here and ponder on my extremely boringly, mundane, routine life, I'm ignoring the ironing ;o)

I have had another break to the ironing today when my youngest son decided it would be a great idea to bake ... yes it 'seemed' a lovely idea during half term.... he decided upon meringues. The problem arose when he lifted the food mixer out of the mixture to see whether it was at the 'peaks' stage yet............ Hmmmmmm maybe turning the mixer OFF first may have been the better option ....lol

Anyway....... back to ironing, but let me assure you, I WILL be back should anything exciting happen during the rest of my Tuesday!

pl
