Boring life

Its been a while since I blogged as I never really have anything to say.. now I know if you asked anyone who knows me about that they would probably be in danger of giving themselves a hernia laughing!! me?? nothing to say??? Hmmmmmm

Anyway, I've had nothing interesting to say. All my time has been taken up recently making backgrounds and props for the school play. AAAAAAAAArrgghhh wash my mouth out...... I profusely apologise to the Y5 teachers *rolls eyes* It wasnt a 'play' it was a 'production'! Actually it was rather good and will be difficult to top it next year lol
It was a production of Panto Pandemonium and I will have all the songs going around in my head until at least June I think lol

We're the 7 dwarves
We're looking for Snow White.........
Thought the witch has got her
We'll rescue her tonight ........

see lol

Anyway my props and backgrounds went down very well and they did TRY to get me to stand and take a bow after the evening performance but it was rather unfortunate that I dropped something just at that point and happened to be crouched near the floor and couldn't be seen!

There was almost one catastrophy when a rather over bearing Mum came in for extra tickets even though everyone had had letters the previous week explaining there were only 2 tickets per family due to lack of space in the hall! With two hours to go she threw her dummy out of the pram and said if she couldnt have extra tickets then her darling little *** would NOT be appearing as a dwarf AND she was taking her outfit home as well so we couldnt use it lol
WELL.......... at this point all the other kids had left for the evening with strict instructions to be back for 6pm and not a minute later. The only child left in school was yours trulys youngest son who just so happened to not have a part as he was sound effects man , so we were dispatched home with a script to learn lines and an hour and a half to find a dwarves outfit lol.
It all went very well and my son was word perfect ;o) and looked rather fetching with Grandads braces on!!

OH well so much for having nothing to say eh ??? ;o)

Relax........

Dont do it lol
You know the way we are always wanting a day to do nothing?? Well I got one.... almost nothing anyway!! All I had to do today was cook the roast, everything else was done yesterday. Was I pleased with this?? Was I heck!! Never satisfied me you know, I just didnt know what to do with myself! After swearing not long ago never to shop on a Saturday I even decided to shop on a Sunday! Wasnt so bad though as Sainsburys was quite empty and also eldest son after deciding to come with me saw a group of mates pumping tyres up at the petrol station and decided that in actual fact he should have gone to the skate park *rolls eyes* I have never seen him so helpful, running up aisles to fetch what I needed. Anyway, everything got in about 15 minutes and paid for, I found myself back home and time to sit on the sofa twiddling my thumbs.

I'm [almost] sure I will never again complain about having no time to sit and do nothing .......

BECAUSE IT'S BORING !!!!

frogs

Well my weekend made a rather different start this week, instead of the usual joyous day of ironing and washing, I had a pond to 'defrog'!! Yep you heard me right ............. defrogging lol

It's that time of year again when we have what looks like a bubbling pond!! All the little amorous froggies swimming about and doing what amorous froggies do!! We needed to get them out before we have the frogspawn to contend with ...... last year we had to take it up to the ponds on the golfcourse as we didnt want so many frogs in with the koi!! believe me a bucket full of frogspawn blubbing about isnt the easiest thing to drive up a narrow lane with ;o)

Anyway when the little froggies are 'doing it' they grab hold of the koi sometimes and hold them down and they die :o( so we decided it would be kinder to defrog the pond and let them run [jump? leap?] free elsewhere. Frogs arent the easier creatures to catch hold of in a 5 foot deep koi pond lol. Once I had a few in my bucket, I made sure there were no mourners in the cemetery and gave them a little extra freedom ;o) oh the frogs that is - not the mourners!!!

Anyway we now have a net covering the pond and I'll just keep an eye out and 'set free' any extra frogs I spy in there!

green btw in honour of froggies everywhere!!

parents evening

My son appears to have turned a new leaf and according to the majority of his teachers is a well mannered, mature, sensible student!! Yeah ...... I was gob smacked too lol.

He is doing well in everything apart from French [which he hates] he settles down quickly and gets on with his work, I never thought I would ever hear all this!

That totally deserved the pair of DC's I'd promised for an amazing report [not ever thinking he would do so well ;o) ]

very very proud Mummy moment went on today :oD

school trip

I went to Kelham Island industrial museum today with the Y5's to learn about the great flood of Sheffield 1864. Suprisingly it was a fab day :oD the kids were brilliantly behaved and the people doing the tour and talk were excellent. I didnt dress in victorian costume as my wardrobe is suprisingly short on long skirts and frilly blouses lol, but the kids all looked very victorian, apart from a couple that were slightly more WWII in my opinion!! Luckily the parents helping with the class I was with were very friendly and we had a laugh, but the ones with the other Y5 class had all brought along victorian faces I'm thinking, as not one cracked a smile all day, as far as I saw!!

dental appointments

I have been trying to have a dentist appointment since about last August when a locum [what the heck does that mean?] told me at a regular check up that I needed a filling replacing [it's been there years, why mess?] and that my jaw is out of alignment and I need a bite guard to hold it in place whilst im sleeping!!! I know my jaw clicks out a lot but to go to bed looking like a pro boxer???

Anyway..... first appointment had to be cancelled as I .... actually I havent a clue why I cancelled that one ... that appointment was remade for the 23rd December, why?? Did I not think I would be too busy so close to Christmas?? well I was lol so another appointment was made for .... TODAY! except I never thought to write it down anywhere. I just remembered it was the beginning of March! So I rang first thing this morning to check when the appointment was this week. The receptionist was very pleased to hear from me when I rang as she was about to phone me anyway. She needed to cancel my appointment and reschedule as .... wait for this ...

the chair was dangerous!

What the blinkin heck that meant I havent a clue, anyway she was very apologetic and said they just couldnt risk anyone going near it?? I know its electric but had it gone mad??

well to stop you getting too bored by all this blathering on, my next appointment is now on the 31st March,

well so long as they have controlled the chair by then!

my purse and my faith in human nature

I forgot to say about my purse in the last blog!

Because we were in such a rush I dashed into iceland whilst my sis went back to the car with the bags and the pram. When I got there my bag felt really light and I realised my purse wasnt in there! I ran back to the shop to see if I had left it by the till or dropped it but no no one had seen it :o( the lady there suggested I asked at customer services [ we were in an indoor shopping centre BTW] It seemed pointless as I was sure that someone had grabbed it as the place was so busy and I wouldnt have noticed! But... I asked if by any chance anyone had handed in a small pink purse and the lady asked my name..... then handed me my purse!! I was astounded, my faith in human nature restored :oD there are still nice, honest, genuine people out there.

In future I will be making sure that I am more careful as well when putting my purse away whilst carrying loads of bags!

TIME.

Why do I never have enough of it?? Time that is... I'm never too sure if it's the fact that I try to fit too much into each day or that I simply have terrible time management. When I do find the time to catch up on the washing and ironing I'm too knackered and end up on here ;o)

Today I grabbed a cup of tea whilst prising eldest son from the pit that he calls a bed, Fed the cat, dog, rabbit and youngest son. Then dropped youngest son off at school at 8.30am, he has to be there early to give out all the registers. I drove down to pick my sister up at school after she dropped off my niece and to drive her over to argos to pick up a new laundry basket
[ I also bought the cutest light set that is a track with cars on it for my nephews bedroom],
we called into Boots to stock up on nappies, wipes etc [ I say we....] and then into wilkinsons and iceland. I apparently spent too much time 'browsing' in wilkinsons and was reminded that my sister has to get to work at 11.45!
I also had a drama here about my purse but I'll explain that afterwards!
Dropped my sister back at home and drove to collect Mum from school where she was picking up my niece as it was quite windy and its a good walk back!
Then drove my sister back to the same school for work!
I called in to see my hubby at the house 'we' are doing up and he asked me to 'nip' to wickes and fetch a box of tiles and tile adhesive..... sigh! couldnt really say no could I?
Battled through traffic to town and back and then called into school as I'd promised to help out this afternoon [last time this week I think that I'm doing extra time lol and you can quote me on that]
Got a phone call as school ended from darling son.... no he wasnt wondering where I was or missing me, he needed cash as he was on his way to the skate park..... oh it's lovely to be needed ;o)
cooked tea for youngest [eldest still out at this point] nipped around to my neighbours so she could put me a hair dye on and managed to get that done and a shower all before eldest was back and STARVING!!
I have now dried my hair and managed to sit and have a sandwich and a cup of tea too.

Soooooooo ........ normally my day isnt quite that bad as I'm in work all morning and fit everything else in to the afternoon! ........... is it very bad time management and I'm a lazy bint or am I genuinely a busy mum lol

mothers day

It appears that in this house the concept of Mothering Sunday was completely misunderstood

Mothering Sunday

I forgot to add this earlier about Asda!
In the doorway were buckets and buckets of bouquets of flowers, helium balloons in huge bunches, teddy bears, fabric stuffed [??] flowers and 'Roger' the greeter was encouraging every single person through the doorway to make a purchase for 'Mothering Sunday'. What makes people dash out on the Saturday to pay as much as £19.99 for what I thought looked a very tatty bunch of flowers??
There were Dads in droves tagging along numerous kids and encouraging them to grab some flowers and a teddy or 'fabric stuffed flower' [which incidentally played a tune ... woohoooo] As I was waiting at the customer services [thats another tale altogether] I was amazed at the amount of flowers bought.
I'm a miserable old bugger as you know and I hate the commercialism of it all! I bought the customary card for both Mums and as I always do I got my Mum daffodils and Mum in law some primula [not the cheese!!] for the garden :o)
We will wait and see what tomorrow brings for me..... I usually just get a card and I ask for no arguments during the day and I also mentioned today that tidy bedrooms without me nagging would be a lovely present lol

AAAaarrrggghhh....

WHY?? Why did I do it?? Why did I go to Asda on a Saturday?? *takes deep breaths*

Are you really telling me ALL those people really only have Saturday to do a huge shop? now I remember why I have never tried to shop on a weekend for a long, long time! I can tell you as well, it will be a long, long, LONG time before I'm daft enough to do that again ...

Usually I happily [well quite cheerfully] push my trolley around Asda on a Thursday morning but the fact that I was working all day most of this week meant it would have to either be the weekend or late one evening. Stupidly I thought to myself [whilst sat on my fat backside waiting for coro to start and slurping on a hot cuppa tea...] that no.. It wouldnt be a good idea to drive over at night, It's dark out at that time you know and also I might be too tired to remember all I needed to buy ............. NOOOoooo!!......... take the risk of the scary, dark driving and forgetting something important!!!

I set off early to make sure sure I got there before most people were out .. HA, how wrong I was!!! What do these people do?? drag their kids out of bed at the crack of dawn? , 'wooohoo kids c'mon lets have a day out shopping, we can wander round annoyingly slowly whilst you 7 [yes I'm sure most people had 7 kids!!] can run about getting in the way AND if its really busy you can all make a slide in the fruit juice aisle and trip people up! *sigh*

Am I just becoming one of those grumbling old ladies?? Lol [comments not required thanks very much]

Anyway 2 1/2 hours later I was home. Probably having forgotten something I will realise I need once in the middle of cooking the sunday roast tomorrow........Oh yes!! wheres the joint??

Thats the last weekend supermarket trip for me ....... well, until it's been long enough that I've completely forgotten [it's my advancing years you know!!] about this one anway, then one night whilst sat with a cuppa waiting for coro I will think 'it's too dark to drive out to the supermarket now and I might forget something as I'm tired so I'll go at the weekend'..................

NNooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!
