Talking of hobbies - well not talking, but I did briefly mention perhaps finding one - I was persuaded that a step class was just what I need to lose the middle age spread that I have gained over the last year or 2! Even though, as S pointed out, a woman of my age and build [old, short and fat!] is never going to have long, thin, lovely legs, it would help my over all fitness.
So off I went [well picked up in S's car, no point in using too much energy before we arrived] to the gym, attired correctly and grasping my water bottle in I went. Step in place, I made sure I wasn't stood next to the skinny blonde girl who obviously wasn't going to make a mistake!!
The music started [very loudly can I add] and off we went without a single explanation of what we were about to do.... Did I mention I have no sense of direction and don't know my left and right?? OK I can manage the step up and down, even the knee lifts and curls, I even managed a grapevine [that was dragged from the back of my mind from aerobics many, many moons ago] but when they started stepping over and twisting around and doing dance steps too, well that lost me completely, who would have though S was so graceful? I did keep stepping the basic steps though and was suitably sweating by the end of the 45 minutes. My legs ache very slightly today and not half as bad as I thought they might. I'm booked in for next week so I may have to try some practicing in the loft before I attempt a 2nd week. But along with the slimming world diet I may just manage to get back into all those trousers I'm too fat for!
OOh I also have bought the Mel B resistance band workout for the kinect, I just have to get one of the kids to move an xbox to the loft for me to try it lol .... wish me luck
